ankenman architects associates inc.

Ankenman Associates Architects Inc. (AAAI) was established in 1980. Since its inception the firm has practiced throughout the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island and beyond, undertaking a variety of successful projects involving both the private and public sectors. Architectural commissions have included residential, education, recreation, health care, institutional, commercial and hospitality projects.

Over time, AAAI has expanded its services beyond traditional architectural commissions. The firm has become well known for its successes in maneuvering through the complexities of municipal approval processes (Rezoning, Development Permit, OCP Amendments, Variances, etc.) Also, due to the success of the Garrison Crossing Development in Chilliwack, BC for Canada Lands Company, our involvement in large scale master planning and design guideline development is steadily increasing.

AAAI is one of the more diverse architectural practices south of the Fraser River. Our services extend from programming through all phases of design, interior design, construction, and post-occupancy analysis. We have worked comfortably with project managers in conventional construction procurement processes, as well as on fast track, design/build, and construction management projects. Our roots in our community run deep and our understanding of the local environment is extensive. For over thirty years we have nurtured relationships throughout the Fraser Valley and in particular with city council, municipal staff, consultants, and contractors as well as through extensive community involvement. AAAI has the commitment, creativity, and expertise to ensure every project is successfully completed.

Design Philosophy

A key factor in the philosophy of our firm is that a Principal is involved at every stage throughout the project. We strive to ensure that a constructive dialogue exists between the client, the various levels of government and the architect and that the design solution will reflect the client’s needs. We appreciate that a collaborative working relationship with the client is paramount and that continual fine tuning of a range of options are positive key forces in the design process. We maintain the client’s program can be achieved within an architectural form that is aesthetically pleasing, cost effective and spatially efficient with building components, details, and materials that are superior and provide long term performance. Ankenman Associates Architects Inc. is committed to generating a product on time and within budget constraints.
